"Leitmotif" was recorded in ten days, and is a concept album in which the songs revolve around a small story written by bassist Drew Roulette included in the album booklet. A " leitmotif" is also a recurring musical theme associated within a particular piece of music with a particular person, place or idea. The album was re-released by Universal, with different artwork, on September 11, 2001. "Leitmotif" is Dredg's first full-length album, originally released on May 30, 1999.
